ARTIST STATEMENT
My artistic practice grew out of memories memories and old photographs. Today I work with what is happening here and now. The starting point is situations, objects, everyday observations. I don't look for subjects in advance. I notice them, recognize them, and develop them.
Sculpture is my primary medium. I am not attached to any single material. I choose it for each work specifically, so that it reinforces the work's content and character. I use materials that are damaged or appear worn , as well as solid ones such as – stone stone or metal. I am particularly interested in working with moulds and casting the same form multiple times using different methods. Â
The relationship between sculpture and the viewer matters equally to me. I treat touch as a fully valid way of experiencing art. In stone, I create rounded, smoothed forms that invite contact. Depending on the project, I also engage other senses: sound, light, scent, or movement. I want the work to genuinely affect the viewer, not just be observed. In exhibitions, with large-scale works, I move away from traditional pedestals. Sculptures stand directly in the space, at the viewer's level. I want the encounter with them to feel natural and close.
